Music Is The Answer - "Pride In the Name Of Love"

Hey Folks,

Well, with our recent diary dates as well as work commitments stealing all of our time, our “Music” posts are a little behind, so we have lots of catching up to do, to bring you the best sounds around, not least with new work from Hi-Fi Sean, Rob Sykes, Steven Redant, David Rogers, Oliver M, Max Morel, Leomeo, Per Q.X & Terry Vietheers, so be prepared for an onslaught of choices.

However, with Pride festivities bursting out across Europe this weekend (London, Cologne & Madrid), we want to capture a real flavour of the party atmosphere & three mixes come to the fore, for lots of reasons.

First up is one of the cutest D.J’s around and one that is working his magic across Europe, having moved from London early this year to take up residency in Berlin, but playing gigs regularly in Cologne, Copenhagen & of course his new home town. While he was in the U.K., he established a reputation for developing a true Euro style underground house vibe in his various residencies at Matinee, Revolver, Funk U & Future and this has translated perfectly to the scene which he now envelops himself in, to huge accolade, hence this is one very busy D.J. indeed! Guessed yet? Well, it is, of course, Eduardo De La Torre who, after a hectic two months, has taken time out to lay down a new mix entitled “Berlin 09”, truly capturing his style of tribal & underground infused with funk! If you are after vocals look elsewhere as this is pure music at its best. Go get your slice of Edu, go to http://djdelatorre.podomatic.com/, click on the “download” option or just play to your hearts content.

Next up and due to take London by storm (again!!) this weekend is scene legend Steve Pitron, who seems to be everywhere for London Pride. Not only will he (or has he should we say) be taking centre stage in the dance arena in Soho square, hosted by Orange, he then sprints across town to set SuperMartXe alight with, no doubt, a sparkling open set, also masterminding Therese’s show. He then returns for another spectacular showing at Beyond which has an “Addicted” theme, with the tune itself being played out & P.A’d by Hadley Poole. So it seems that “Addicted” is the word of the moment, especially, if like us, you have been hooked to his last mix “Addicted Vol 1” (we can’t put disc one down, proverbially speaking of course!). So, the follow up is here, as the master releases his “Addicted Vol 2” double mix, for us, taking a slightly tougher direction than Vol 1, more SuperMartXe in his style, but great nevertheless. If we had to choose a favourite, “CD2” stands out, not least for the fresh new Sultan & Shepard remix of “that” record! kicking off the mix that then takes you on a glorious journey of classic tunes remodelled & mixed in with up to date huge house hits (but then “CD1” isn’t bad either!!). To become further addicted to Steve Pitron’s music go to http://stevepitronsessions.podomatic.com/ & grab both “Addicted Vol 2” mixes now.

Our final choice comes from another scene favourite and someone that has an amazing array of musical styles, like no one else we know, having the ability to really play to his audience, switching in an instance to capture the mood. In a glittering career across London & beyond, which has seen him hold residencies at the biggest club names & special slots at others, the list including, Action, Beyond, Crash, Hard On!, Hustlaball, Lovechild, Matinee, Revolver & Trade. But it doesn’t stop there, as he regularly plays at both Barcode’s (Soho & Vauxhall), Lo Profile and debuts at The Edge (appropriately placed right next to the dance stage) which hosts a special London Pride party. In celebration of all things partying and hot off the press may we say (we haven’t even got a play list or album cover yet!) is his new mix “Music To Watch The Boys Cruise By”, a cheeky but apt album title & a compilation that is rammed full of fresh summer sounds as well as some popular floor fillers. Oh & we haven’t even mentioned his name yet, but it is non other than Brent Nicholls. Being so new, the mix isn’t yet released, but with a serious nudge tonight, we are sure you will see it out on http://djbrentnicholls.com/music by tomorrow!! (if you haven’t been one of the lucky ones to get his free download). This is (for us) Brent at his brilliant best and gets out tip top choice pick.

Well, that’s it for now, but as we said, there is lots of catching up to do, with more to come from everyone we mentioned at the outset, as well as another mix from Brent Nicholls, new material from Alessandro, & a latest release from Nick Tcherniak, all to come later this week.

So prepare yourselves for a period of mega musical magic with a fever pitch release of posts. In the meantime, we hope you love our choices here, so whether it’s checking out these sounds on a dancefloor or sitting back at home, simply enjoy!!.
